At ABC & LOL, your child's day is built around play-based, developmentally appropriate learning that nurtures the whole child, with the inspiration of nature at the heart of our days. From free play and creative activities to circle time, stories, and daily outdoor play, the schedule is designed to support social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth. Homemade meals are served family style, including breakfast, lunch, and two afternoon snacks, giving children a chance to practice real-life social and serving skills while enjoying nutritious, CACFP-compliant food. The centers are open Monday through Friday, welcoming children from 6 weeks through 11 or 12 years old, and transportation is available for families in the St. Johnsbury area.
When it comes to behavior, ABC & LOL takes a calm, compassionate approach. Rather than punishment, teachers use gentle redirection, verbal reminders, and dedicated calm-down spaces within the classroom to help children navigate big emotions and build self-regulation skills. For children with disabilities or developmental considerations, the centers work closely with Children's Integrated Services and local school districts, welcoming outside service providers on-site so that children can receive support without disrupting their or their parents' daily routines. Safety is taken seriously throughout, with monthly fire drills, thorough emergency protocols, strict safe sleep practices for infants, and clear procedures for illness, medication, and authorized pickup.
Families are considered true partners at ABC & LOL. Teachers communicate daily through the Brightwheel app, and parents are invited to join their child for lunch any time with a day's notice. Parent-teacher conferences are held twice a year, and families are warmly welcomed to join field trips and center events throughout the year. Tuition is based on Vermont's 5-STAR reimbursement rates, financial assistance is available, and a 10% sibling discount applies for full-time families. Above all, the team at ABC & LOL is committed to making sure every child feels safe, loved, and genuinely excited to walk through the door each morning.
